Barbie Make Up and Hair

Let's talk about Barbie's hair and make-up, shall we? At work, Barbie pulls her hair back...sort of. This is conservative, for her. She has a very light lip and light eye make up- although it is BLUE. But this doll is from 1984, and it was perfectly acceptable back then.
Peaches n Cream Barbie of course went with the coral and peach make up- something she didn't do much before or afterward. Now this ice capades Barbie- she was all about icy pastel make up and lavender toned hair. Super frosty, super pale and super chalky Easter colors. She was on the ice. Got it.

I don't know the name of this one, but I am guessing she is from the 1990's. Denim jacket, perm- she could have been from around 1988-1990 looking at the clothes, make up and hair.

We have already discussed this dolls make up in another post, but I added the picture anyway, because it was so beautiful. Okay- I had this doll and it looked nothing like this one, which is the South American version of Angel Face Barbie. Mine had super duper dark lowlights and TONS of clown make up- like, green eyeshadow. She had the worst make up that I have ever seen on a Barbie. But this one looks nice.

Dream Date P.J., looking prettier than Barbie in the nude make up and nude eye.

More icy and chalky Barbie make up- it was all about iridescent here. This is that real Barbie Pink lipstick that I tried to emulate in the eighties and early nineties that looked so terrible with my olive skin tone...

Island Fun Barbie had a really pretty face- sort of grey eye shadow and a chalky pink lipstick, no cheek color.

Barbie and the Rockers were made to compete with Jem and the Holograms, so they had to try and shut them down with LOTS of eye make up and the biggest hair ever.

I think this is Dream Date Barbie- can't tell. Anyway, she has a lavender eye and very soft make up, which, again, is what you are to do if you are wearing super bright colors.
