J'ADORE LADUREE

Surely you guys have seen a big explosion of French Macaroons- Oh, I am sorry, Macarons, lately. There is even a book called I Love Macarons, to prove my point. There is no book that says "I love Liddle Kiddles." Best believe I would buy it, if there were. Anyway, I can see why people are all over these macarons- first off, they are pretty and colorful- two things I love. Second of all, they are expensive, which, for some reason, attracts many women who want a taste of luxury.

Cookies

OK, so now you know how crazy I am. I don't feel the need to explain the fact that I love looking at sweets. They can be really pretty in shape and texture. I love looking at cookies. There is just something beautiful about them- and yes, eating them, too!

Sort of soft and oblong, these Mint Milanos are the best. They are in the little pleated paper, making them extra special.

My pediatrician used to give me these in the Seventies! I always found them so neato!

And you know of course that I am partial to sprinkles

French Macaroons are like the new it thing. I hate new it things normally, but these are so feminine and fabulous, I have to give them a chance.

Candy

I am continuing with my theme of pretty sweets. Look at these candies! Or are they bars of some sort? I don't even know, but they look very charming.

Wow! This candy is so darling!

I have a major weakness for truffles, simply because they are cute little round balls.

Salt water taffy is so pale and innocent and just delightful to look at

But it sticks in your teeth- so don't eat it. I used to buy it for my boy on Balboa Island in Newport.

Oooh! Don't know how these would taste, but they look so whimsical!

Are these cupcakes or tiny candies? I don't know, but this color scheme has me hooked.

One of my favorite candies is peppermint sticks, even though I hate red. There is something about red and white stripes.

Are these little Petit Fours? Or Candy? They are just lovely.

Again with the feminine, pretty colors

And now we are moving on to bright colors. Here are Dots- which always leave something to be desired, but look neat.

Visually cool

My boy always picks these for his ice cream topper because they look so neat, then he realizes they don't taste great with certain flavors of ice cream. But candy is very much about appearance! It is part of why we like it. It just LOOKS so fascinating, we get sucked in.

Cake and Ice Cream

I am into feminine things and let me tell you, cakes are really at the top of the list as far as girlish treats are concerned. They are delicate and frilly and lacy and wonderful.

I could go on forever about wedding cakes, but I will only show one here. They can get really insane and I don't want to get into the ostentation of it all. This one is tasteful and small with a bow and brooch- one of my favorite combonations in general. See below for more pretty baked goods and ice creams.

Hard Candy
